The sophomore guard scored a game-high 18 points to lead the Royals to a 70-54 victory over Ferndale in a loser-out 3A District 1 girls basketball tournament game Feb. 18 at Lynnwood High School. Edwards also scored a game-high 13 points as Lynnwood defeated Mount Vernon 50-40 in another loser-out game on Feb. 15. “We're confident in how we're playing as a team, Edwards said. “I just want to keep our season going.” A 46-36 loss to Glacier Peak sent the Royals into the consolation bracket, which is helping the team focus, according to Edwards. “It makes us play better,” she said. “We know if we lose, we're out.”

Noah Cuzzetto
Edmonds-Woodway High School
The sophomore standout defeated Graham-Kapowsin's Spencer Schroeder 6-4 in the Class 4A 106-pound finals at Mat Classic XXIV Feb. 18 at the Tacoma Dome. The state wrestling championship is the first for Cuzzetto, who won district and regional titles this season. The Edmonds-Woodway sophomore fell behind 2-0 in the first period and then trailed 4-2 in the third period but scored four straight points to secure the victory. Cuzzetto, ranked No. 1 in his weight class coming into the tournament, wanted to go home with nothing less than a state championship. “I just imagined it,” Cuzzetto said. “I kept working hard all season.”
