Weather guru Cliff Mass explains why Everett is water rich
If you live in Everett -- in fact, if you live most anywhere in Snohomish County -- your water comes to you after a long journey from the Spada Lake Reservoir. Spada Reservoir can hold 50 billion gallons of water. That's more water than Seattle's reservoirs combined.
The city of Everett provides drinking water to most of the county. On an average day, more than half a million people across the county use 55 millions gallons. Weather guru Cliff Mass explains what he calls "the Spada Lake anomaly" -- the fact it gets an insane amount of rain. As an example, he writes that during the 48 hours ending Wednesday morning, Spada Lake received more than 10 inches of rain (10.47 inches). No other regional station was close, he said.
